I've never heard of Classic Vinyl LPs. Who are you?

I am a foreign affairs analyst, writer, independent consultant, and classical music YouTube archivist in the Washington DC area. I retired from the US Government in early January 2019 following a 38-year career with the US Department of State's Bureau of Intelligence and Research. (My personal website is here.)

I have been listening to great music and collecting LPs since I was a small child. I started selling LPs to quality-conscious collectors and music lovers online in 2000, and am the most reliable and trustworthy individual with whom you will ever work. I respond within an hour or two at most to email inquiries; I am flexible regarding pricing (please feel free to make me an offer on any LP you see listed for sale on this website); and am concerned principally with customer satisfaction -- in more than 18 years of online business I've worked easily and reliably with thousands of individuals from across the globe.

  • I own all of my inventory; all records are in my personal, immediate possession, stored in my smoke free home; please feel free to contact me if you would like additional photos, I will respond promptly.
  • My life / business philosophy is simple; treat others the way I would expect and wish to be treated. In practical terms, this means that I ship your purchase the next day (including Saturdays) and you receive precisely what you have ordered.
  • Barring unforeseen circumstances (snowstorms, etc.), I will ship your order within 18 to 24 hours of your purchase, including on Saturday (the local post office closes at 1 pm).

Is this website encrypted? Is my personal information safe?

Yes! Every page on classicvinyl.com is encrypted using an extended validation SSL certificate (explained in the video below) issued by Digicert. This means that all communication between your browser and our server -- including your personal information -- is secure. Moreover, all financial transactions take place on Paypal's servers, where you will be redirected when you are ready to make payment.

How do I register for an account?

The only way to register for an account on this site is to place an order and pay for same. Once I process your order, you will be sent a username and password that will allow you to log on to this site and to enjoy the benefits (discount coupons and private notifications of sales, for example) of being a customer.

Can I email you and place an order?

Yes, absolutely, Use the contact form here and let me know the title of the LP you are interested in. I will be glad to send you a Paypal invoice, and will ship your LP upon receipt of payment.

If I buy more than one LP will you give me a discount?

Yes, I will be glad to. Please contact me for details; please provide the titles of the LPs you are interested in purchasing and we will go from there.

Where do you store your records?

I keep all LPs for sale in my climate-controlled and smoke-free home.

Can you send me additional photos of an LP I want to buy?

Yes, I would be glad to. Please contact me.

Can I return a record if I am not satisfied?

Yes, you may, and I will refund you 100%, but (a) you must pay for return shipping and (b) the LP must be in the same condition it was when I mailed it to you. I will credit you the shipping charge if you wish to purchase another record from me.

How much is shipping?

Shipping in the continental US is free; I ship media mail and will provide you with a tracking number when I mail your record(s). If the item you are ordering is over $50 I will either add insurance, ship priority mail or I will ship with signature confirmation. These will be included in the invoice I send to you, unless you specifically decline. If you live overseas, please contact me regarding shipping arrangements.

Do you sell on Discogs, eBay or Amazon?

Can you build a website like this for me?

Yes, I build websites in my free time and would be glad to assist. Contact me for details.

Do you accept credit cards?

No, not directly. To pay by credit card you will need to use Paypal. This site is SSL secured, but I do not process any financial transactions on this website or on my server.

Can I pay with a personal checks?

Yes, you can mail me a personal check or money order and I will send you your LP(s) within a day or two. You can write to me for my address.

Can a record be like new, even if it has been opened and played?

Yes, absolutely. I know from personal experience that one can open an LP, play a few tracks, then decide to put it away and never play it again. The LP remains in like new condition. I own thousands of such records. If you buy one or more from me and are not satisfied you may return them for a complete refund, no questions asked. Please check my feedback on Amazon and eBay and you will see that I have never had a problem because I am completely honest and place customer satisfaction at the top of my priorities as an online seller.

I live in Europe. Can you ship some records to me?

Yes! I ship LPs all over the world. Please write to me with the LP(s) you are interested and I will let you know shipping costs, which usually start at $24 for first class international mail.

Can I sell you my LP collection?

Please write to me to discuss. I am interested mostly in classical music, and the quality of the LPs has to be exceptionally good.

Do you drop ship?

No, I do not drop ship (order from a third party who might have a record in stock that one of my customers is looking for). The reason is that I cannot see what the record looks like and cannot validate its condition. I do not ship any record that is not in my personal possession.

How do you package LPs for mailing?

In the case of a previously-owned LP: I remove the LP and the inner paper sleeve from the slipcase. Then I wrap the LP and the slipcase in two sheets of tissue paper. I place the wrapped LP / slipcase and a piece of firm cardboard inside a special box that is manufactured specifically for shipping records. I tape all the edges securely. For larger shipments, I use bubble wrap. For new LPs, I wrap in tissue paper, then ship in cardboard mailer, as discussed above.

Will you price match?

Generally speaking yes. None of the prices listed on this site are set in stone. But please remember that there are a number of factors that go into determining value.
